Successful school year wraps up
|
From our first major international conference, the Euphrates Summit: Our World Beyond 9/11 in October and the inauguration of our signature Warriors for PeaceⓇ program, to a successful Travel Study trip
this past January, followed by a quieter spring season devoted to building up our resources, streamlining our staff and our procedures, and entering another round of strategic planning for the future -- it's been a great academic year.
This past March saw the inception of a new resource: our "Weekly Current", which provides information about and anaysis of Middle East issues, clues readers in to timely topics and stellar organizations, provides inspiration, and shines a spotlight on the work of Euphrates, too!
Thank you for your ongoing support, shown by reading and responding to our "Weekly Currents", your financial contributions, attending talks and programs, traveling with us, and simply by visiting our website!

Fellows inform, inspire, transform
|
Heather Libbe, our 2011-2012 Fellows program manager, oversaw our trusty team of Fellows (21 in the fall; 13 this spring) as they planned and hosted nearly 20 events, conducted research, produced videos, and continued to educate and interact with both the Principia community and the greater St. Louis community. Thank you, Heather for your outstanding work, dedication, insatiable work ethic, and leadership! We'll miss you next year, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
Heather wrapped up her time at Euphrates by naming two "Fellows of the Year", Kynan Witters-Hicks and Abbie Steckler, who have shown incredible commitment to the ideals of Euphrates as well as to sharing their growing awareness of Middle East issues with the community. We also congratulate graduating senior Fellows, Amber Dahlin and Eric Pagett, and wish them luck!

Founder's talks on the region garner media attention
|
With Euphrates Founder & CEO Janessa Gans Wilder traveling across the country and delivering talks on the Middle East and its importance to each and every American, Euphrates loves expanding its network one audience at a time. However, in early May we got to spread our message slightly wider when a local report of Gans Wilder's St. Louis talk was picked up by the Huffington Post Blog! We were thrilled with the exposure, and grateful to attendee Layla Azmi Goushey who wrote up the event.

Welcome summer interns!
|
|
After a brief hiatus this summer, we look forward to jumping in to our third year of a thriving Fellows Program -- and beginning its gradual expansion, too. Stay tuned! And, while the Fellows Program takes a quick break, we will ramp up our work with interns -- Euphrates is welcoming two interns this summer, one based in Washington, D.C., and the other in Alexandria, Egypt! They will be hard at work expanding and enriching our website's resources page, as well as writing for the "Weekly Current". We look forward to hearing their "on-the-ground" perspectives, and unveiling a much more interactive and in-depth resources page for you this fall.
